Team Wokeseeds – Ka’Ron Gaines
Good or Bad Cop, New Cop
Officer Larry has been on the force for 10 plus years,
Officer Davis is new but can see Officer’s Larry’s hidden tears,
Officer Larry is so angry he says he wants the community to be better,
Plus he has never taken a day off no matter the situation nor weather,
Officer Davis is a millennial that is a vegan, mental health activist, and YouTuber,
Officer Larry is from the era of the Baby Boomers,
Same goals, both are officers, but they play completely different roles,
Officer Larry eats donuts and fast food for lunch,
And Officer Davis typically brings his favorite fruits and nuts as brunch,
Officer Larry is focused on uplifting the parents in the neighborhood
And Officer Davis believes without uplifting the children there is no way the community’s shape could be good
Officer Davis ask him why is he always so tense,
Officer Larry responds, “because of all the murder scenes I’ve worked, my mind hasn’t been in a good place since”
Officer Larry suggests if Officer Davis would stop asking so many questions,
He would then join him for one of his mental health lessons,
As the older officer schools the younger one on how the streets operate,
The younger one educated him on things as an officer that he doesn’t tolerate,
As days go by he didn’t ask Officer Larry anything,
So he tells Officer Davis he wants to try his mental health program because taking his stress to boxing hasn’t worked for him in the ring,
After weeks and months in on the program the younger officer sees a change in him,
Recognizing his growth as if it was a stem,
Now Officer Larry wants to aim to uplift the children in the community,
And Officer Davis now has plans to bring resources for the adults fluently,
Two officers both seeing the same community through their sunglasses tents,
They sit after work and talk and create their first Community Stop the Violence Event.
Team Stalwarts – Yashi Lath
Walking together towards the common road
Krish and Anshika belong to different backgrounds. Anshika is brought up in the lap of luxury while Krish belongs to an average middle-class family. They study in the same college but are unaware of each other. Anshika is a popular one while Krish stays busy with his studies and is a typical bookworm. People on campus call him weird because of his reserved personality while Anshika has a fun-loving and confident personality and treats everyone equally despite her rich background.
One day the P.L. of their class announces a competition of colors of love, where every team has to present love in art forms with a meaningful write-up. The P.L. divided the class into groups and the last group was Krish and Anshika.
So be cooperative with your teammate’s class said the P.L
Does Krish study in our class asked Anshika
Yes, look he is sitting at the last bench said one of her friends
Anshika turned back to find Krish who was hiding his face behind a book
Why he is hiding behind the book I have to talk to him Anshika made her way towards him
Hey Krish we are in the same group Anshika said
He looked up and ignored her, she waved her hand in front of him for grabbing his attention
Yeah, I got it and the theme also he replied back
So, we have to work together if we have to win, she said
Okay so let’s discuss it after college he said
Cool but where you will be after college she asked
At the library he said
Alright see you after college she replied
After the classes got over Anshika was heading towards the library, and saw Krish feeding puppies which melted her heart. He looked extremely happy around puppies.
Hey they are so cute she said bending down and one of the puppies licked her hand
Yes, I feed them every day he said
That’s nice can I click a picture of you with them if you don’t mind, she asked
Okay he said
Anshika clicked a picture of him with puppies she also fed one puppy who was sitting alone in a corner
Let’s go to the library he said
Sure, she said
They reached the library and started discussing about the competition Anshika was good at making illustrations and Krish had excellent writing skills. They divided the work and Anshika requested Krish to write a short write-up which could match her illustrations which he agreed. They started working as a team for achieving their goal and often visited each other places for further planning about the competition. Anshika began to enjoy Krish’s company as well of his family. She learnt that love can be found in small gestures and moments. She drew an illustration inspired from Krish’s mom and dad’s love she wanted to show it to Krish but she decided to keep it as a surprise.
Look I wrote something for illustration Krish said
He began reading the poem which he wrote for her beautiful illustration while she was lost in beautifully written words.
Wonderfully penned down she said
Thank you he said
Well, you know I have combined some illustrations and made a special collage of them hope you will like it
OH that’s creative of you Anshika he said
Yeah well can we go out for an ice cream break my mind needs relaxation she asked while making a puppy face
You know I won’t say no if you will make that face he giggled
They went to the ice cream parlour which was near Anshika’s place and after that, they went to a special garden where the stargazing spot was famous. They got to know many more things about each other Krish told Anshika how he was bullied for his reserved personality in school Anshika sympathized with him as she knows what it feels like to get bullied. Anshika told Krish that despite having everything around her she often feels lonely. She even told him about her fake friends who are with her because of her popularity. Krish consoled her and felt stupid for his silly assumptions about her as he always thought that the life of popular ones is easy. They felt a different connection with each other that they haven’t felt with anyone yet. The day of the competition finally arrived every team did good and now it was the turn of Krish and Anshika. Anshika showed the illustrations on the screen and signalled Krish to recite the write-up that he wrote. He was anxious at first but she signalled him to take deep breaths and said that she is with him in a non-verbal sign.
Love is hidden in small gestures
Understanding, trust, respect, emotional availability, and clear communication result in a beautiful relationship.
One can take some time out for spending quality time with their partners
Love languages are of different types holding hands and feeling the warmth of each other are the sweetest non-verbal languages of love.
He continued reciting the write-up which impressed everyone. When he finished his write-up Anshika presented a special illustration of an old-couple love which was inspired from Krish’s parent’s lovable portrait. Krish was surprised and happy at the same time he didn’t expect Anshika to do this.
Love is not about materialistic stuff.
It’s about being with each other in every phase and getting old together.
And the couple in the illustration gives a wonderful message of love to our generation Anshika concluded.
The P.L declared Krish and Anshika as winners and everyone praised the teamwork and efforts of Krish and Anshika. Every team did well but the presentation of Krish and Anshika was something unique from others. They went into depth for achieving their common goal. They were different yet they came together for achieving their goal which blossomed into a beautiful friendship.
