Indore, India:
As cybercrime continues to rise across India, one police officer from Indore has taken a proactive approach by educating the public on how to stay safe online. Additional DCP (Crime Branch) Rajesh Dandotiya has recently completed over 1000 awareness sessions on cyber security — a milestone that has earned him a place in the World Book of Records, London.

With cyber threats targeting everyone from school students to working professionals, law enforcement agencies have started turning to awareness and prevention as crucial tools. Dandotiya’s sessions, conducted over several years, focus on teaching basic online safety practices, identifying common frauds, and sharing real-life case studies from his own experience in the field.

In response to growing digital threats, he launched the “Digital Suraksha” initiative to systematically engage with educational institutions, corporate offices, and community groups. The initiative aims to ensure that citizens — especially those in smaller towns and rural areas — are not left behind in the fight against online fraud.

Apart from his work in the field, Rajesh Dandotiya has been invited to speak on platforms like TEDx and Josh Talks, where he discussed the evolving nature of cybercrime and the importance of public awareness. He has also been featured on “Arya Talks,” a podcast dedicated to conversations around digital safety.

His efforts reflect a shift in policing strategies, where education is seen as just as important as enforcement. By focusing on prevention, officers like Dandotiya hope to reduce the number of victims falling prey to scams, phishing, identity theft, and other forms of cybercrime.

With cybercriminals using increasingly sophisticated tactics, police departments across the country are exploring similar awareness models. The success of these sessions in Madhya Pradesh may serve as a template for other regions to adopt, especially as India continues to expand its digital footprint.
