CMA Rabindra Kumar Mohapatra (R K Mohapatra) is a very successful & renowned Indian Author in non-fiction self-help books worldwide, having vast 28 years of experience in Finance and Account in India and abroad, working as General Manager, Finance, in IRCON.
R K Mohapatra (born 1963), MBA/Finance, FCMA, is known for his work on financial planning and retirement planning for individuals. He has participated in many seminars and workshops in all these years of his illustrious career.
Besides his financial acumen, he also happens to be an accomplished author, philanthropist, and activist in his own right, which sets him apart.
As we remember Late Mahadevi Verma Ji on the occasion of her 115th birthday, Cherry Book Awards felicitated the chosen literary personalities for their amazing contribution to Indian Literature. R K Mohapatra was chosen as one of the prestigious awardee for his impactful writings.

How’s your journey as a writer has been till now?
I began my writing career in 2013 and published my first book, “Investment Risk & Growth-A guide for investors about investment vehicles.” Subsequently, the second edition was published in the year 2019.
This book comprising six chapters is a guide for investors about investment vehicles and elaborately describes the topic of financial planning for an individual, which also focuses an investor’s perspective on handling his or her hard-earned money carefully through proper investment planning.
Logical examples in different chapters are there to elucidate how investment through SIP ensures a disciplined manner regardless of the volatility of the market movement, and further how it helps an investor average his cost through market cycles for creating a big corpus to achieve their goals sans taking too much risk in the long run.
My second book, “Retirement Planning – A simple guide for individuals,” was published in 2016. The book “Retirement Planning – A simple guide for individuals” describes the topic of retirement plans for individuals, which reflects and focuses on an individual’s retirement needs, corpus for retirement, and use of created corpus after the superannuation.
I have elaborately explained the concept of Retirement Planning, which helps the readers determine retirement corpus during the pre-retirement stage, preserve the accumulated corpus during the preservation stage, and use the desired accumulated corpus during the distribution stage.
My third book, “Mutual funds: A powerful investment Avenue for Individuals,” was published by Blue Rose Publishers in 2020, an ideal guide for investors who are looking for a deeper understanding of mutual funds; their risk & returns, and the benefits of investing in mutual funds, which has been dedicated to the young generation for building a balanced portfolio and creating wealth in the long run.
The book consists of six concise but comprehensive chapters: delved into “Mutual Funds,” “Investment in shares & Debt Mutual Funds,” “Assessment of Risk in mutual funds investment,” “Evaluation of portfolio,” “Future prospects of Mutual Funds in India” and “Analysis of HDFC Mid-Cap Opportunity Funds,” having 172 pages, which not only help you understand the basics of different types of mutual funds but also provide more general self-help techniques of your goal setting and money management once profit begins to be made.

What would you like to convey to our readers & budding writers?
There are huge opportunities available in India and worldwide for budding writers. They should be given a very clear and informative message on the subject. Their expertise and thorough knowledge come under a book that must benefit the masses in society. They have to find out in their audience and deliver it at the right time and in the right place, on the subject they are competent.
Write the topic where you are confident. You have a thorough knowledge, and you are the Master. Don’t give wrong information to your audience if you are not sure. It is better to say sorry if you tell something wrong. It will create value in society. Your work, attitude, knowledge, and skill are your strength, which makes value to you. A self-publishing Author should understand it from the very beginning.
The readers always read books with a positive mind. Each book has some impact on their mind. They should always think differently and make a meaningful decision by investing the right amount through SIP at the right time in their life in order to achieve their dreams.

Who has been your inspiration in this journey?
Nobody inspires you when you start a new work apart from your professional work. The same thing happened in life. Initially, no one liked my writing, even if my family? But, after the publication of my first book, a few friends, colleagues, seniors asked me again and again when my next book would be released and motivated me to write books on the subject: Financial Planning, Mutual Funds, Retirement Planning, and portfolio analysis.
Despite a hectic work schedule, I have effectively managed time to pursue my passion for writing articles in newspapers and magazines, blogs, and a series of books on relevant financial matters on the problems and queries of the common person.
How do you react to the Success you got thus far?
Failure is part and parcel of our life. We often acknowledge it very positively and also react very negatively. From my wealth of experience, I always consider failure as my Success. What I am today, only the blessing of God and my failure. Failure is the ultimate part of our Success.
Learning is a continuous process in our life, like Success and failure. Recognizing the learning process in your life is the best mantra of Success.
