Eric was born and raised in California where he still resides.

He was introduced to writing, storytelling, and the study of the living word of God through his grandmother who was a published writer and teacher.

She was paramount in instilling a desire for self-expression through writing and art. She schooled him in the treasures of literature and influenced his love of poetry and stories. Eric has been writing for sixteen years, starting in music composition and lyrics.

In the years leading up to now, he has expressed his dreams, revelations, and understandings more and more through his pen in the form of personal poetic compositions. As many have experienced trials and struggles, he has chosen the written word to spill his ink on paper as it promotes healing and therapy. Eric went to MT San Jacinto College and studied Audio Technology and Sound; there, he also took various English writing courses.

A Life Without You

A life without you
is like a tree without leaves.
A somber silhouette shapes no shadow.

A life without you
is like a flower without blooms.
No sight and texture to fragrance the senses.

A life without you
is like a vine with no fruit;
the reach of promotion with zero to give.

A life without you
is like the sky without the wind.
It’s almost as if the seasons won’t change.

A life without you
is like a life without breath.
Toils submerged with no hope to inhale.

A life without you
is like a season without sun.
The darkness is prodding with despair.

A life without you
is like the sea without stars;
lost without a map to find a destination.

A life without you
is like a dream unfulfilled.
A revelation that was cut short by reality.

A life without you
is like the night without day.
The cold is a dark prison void of light.

A life without you
is like a journey with no companion;
knowledge without understandings to share.

A life without you
is like hunger with no food.
Trapped in the abyss of a stomach’s pit.

A life without you
is like a dock with no ship.
Long is the wait to escape harbor.

A life without you
is like a lesson to be learned;
examination of self in trials and tribulation.

A life without you
is like a mirror with no reflection.
You are the best part of me unseen.

A life without you
is like the weeping of the eyes,
where tears are drawn from the deepest
well of my soul.

“My Son Of Sunshine”

Your soul shines bright.
To my beloved son of mine,
through the entirety of your life,
you are the rays of the sunshine.

Ever since you were just a baby,
you have been connected to the sun.
For, the light that’s shining in you,
makes you equal to its sum.

God gifted you with high resolve
and a chiseled, whittled hardness.
You are a gift to this world and
your heart’s a lighthouse in the darkness.

Your soul shines bright.
To my beloved son of mine,
through the entirety of your life,
you are the rays of the sunshine.

Your fight for life emits from you,
your light a shimmering blaze.
You are the glow of daylight
and illuminating is your space.

Your face glistens,
so much that your eyes smile.
You are the place where dusk and dawn
make peace and reconcile.

Your soul shines bright.
To my beloved son of mine,
through the entirety of your life,
you are the rays of the sunshine.
