Here are the excerpts from our exclusive interview with Jassii
The Update India – Tell us something about yourself?
Jassii – I’m Jaskirat, also known as Jassii, a 21-year-old artist hailing from Delhi, who has been translating emotions into music for the past two years. My objective as a musician is to both entertain and inspire my audience, utilizing the talent I believe is a divine gift.
The Update India – What motivated you to choose this as your career/passion?
Jassii – Discovering my passion for percussion in fifth grade opened my eyes to the profound impact music has on humanity. As I immersed myself in Punjabi pop artists’ works over the years, I unearthed hidden talents in singing, songwriting, and composing, experiences that not only healed me but also brought an unparalleled sense of self-fulfillment.
The Update India – What changes have you witnessed in the music industry? How do you try to adapt yourself with these changes?
Jassii – In today’s rapidly evolving generation, I’ve observed a significant shift in people’s attitudes toward music. Nowadays, there’s a constant demand for fresh sounds, requiring artists to adapt quickly and consistently deliver what audiences crave. Personally, I prioritize studying current musical trends to fulfill these demands while staying true to my roots and unique style of making music .
The Update India – Your most favourite or difficult projects you’ve worked upon?
Jassii – My most favourite project that i have worked upon and was very close to my heart, titled “Dooriyan.” This love track, inspired by real-life experiences, encapsulates my deepest emotions through soulful composition and a memorable hook. Despite its significance to me, crafting this song posed numerous challenges as I refused to compromise on any aspect of its structure and lyricism.
The Update India – What are you looking forward to learn further or what kind of projects are you interested to work on?
Jassii – I have an insatiable interest in exploring various types of music and genres, as there are no boundaries to my musical pursuits. I thrive on working on diverse projects to continually challenge and enhance my versatility and music production skills. I believe that pushing my limits is essential to delivering what audiences demand, and while only the best will resonate with people, I am currently concentrating on creating unique compositions with captivating lyrics.
The Update India – Your experience or any learning so far in the music industry, that taught you some major lessons?
Jassii – Recently, I’ve come to understand that achieving the best results often requires a strong team, as navigating the competitive and ever-changing landscape of the industry is challenging for an individual alone. Additionally, I’ve learned that not everyone is genuinely supportive of personal growth; rather, people tend to rally behind what is already flourishing, rather than what truly requires their support to thrive.
The Update India – Tell us about your latest music.
Jassii – This year, I’ve recently unveiled two original compositions. “Mukaam,” dropped in January, seamlessly blends Punjabi lyricism with a drill hip-hop beat, crafting an energetic and infectious vibe that also acted as a source of self-motivation during a challenging period. On the other hand, “White Lies” is a soul-stirring ballad exploring the complex dynamics of a relationship tainted by deceit and betrayal. With haunting melodies and poignant lyrics, the song encapsulates the essence of two individuals ensnared in a web of lies.
